First volume in a collection of the foremost U.S. radical of the nineteenth century and one of history’s great orators Wendell Phillips. Phillips was an early member of the First International, joining in 1866. Of particular interest in this volume is Phillip’s speech on Harper’s Ferry, his eulogy for John Brown, and his epic lecture on the life of Toussaint L’Ouverture.
