Ny Tid (Chicago). No. 733. April 21, 1922.

Ny Tid (New Era) was Communist weekly published in Chicago by the Scandinavian Workers’ Educational Society and included both Swedish and Norwegian/Danish content. Faction fights and Palmer raids ended Svenska Socialisten by 1920, but was reborn as the pro-Communist Facklan (‘The Torch’) in 1921 after the majority of the Left Wing SSF were expelled from the SLP. After the SSF merged with the Workers (Communist) Party the paper was renamed Ny Tid (New Era) in 1922 as the organ of the CP’s Scandinavian Federations moving to New York City in 1931. There, along with Swedish, the paper published sections in Norwegian, Danish, and English. It’s circulation was around 5000. Ny Tid ended its run in 1936. Editors included Oscar W. Larsen (1922), Charles Fredzen (1922), Daniel Birgers (1922–1925), Allan Wallenius (as “Ellis Peterson”) (1925–1929), and Albert Pearson (1929–1936).
