What Means a Strike in Steel by William Z. Foster. Workers Library Publishers, New York. February, 1937.

The leader of the 1919 Steel Strike looks at the unionizing efforts of the C.I.O.’s Steel Workers Organizing Committee at the beginning of 1937. Within a month of this writing, U.S. Steel’s resistance would be broken and a collective bargaining agreement achieved. However, a few months later, the SWOC was defeated in the epic confrontation with Little Steel, costing the lives of a dozen workers.
