Spark was the journal of the Marxist Workers League, a split from the Revolutionary Workers League led by Karl Mienov. Mienov held that the Spanish Civil War was an inter-imperialist war and joined with other small forces to form the M.W.L. in early 1938. Published in New York Spark lasted from February, 1938 until May, 1939 when it was replaced by ‘Power.’ The M.W.L. and the small Revolutionary Marxist League united in 1940 to form the short-lived Workers Party.
