The object of this meeting is not only to promote sociability among the women comrades of that locality but at the same time serves the purpose of preparing articles for the coming fair, the proceeds of which will be for the benefit of the Buffalo Socialist, Comrades are asked to bring their thimbles and scissors.

BRANCH THREE GIVES HELPING HAND. At last Sunday’s meeting Branch Three voted to buy two shares of stock in the Buffalo Socialist. Now is a good time for the comrades to give us a hand.

FINNISH BRANCH AIDS BUFFALO SOCIALIST. One of the best supporters of the Buffalo Socialist is the Finnish Branch of Local Buffalo. They are ever ready to aid and are constantly hustling for the paper. Last week the Branch purchased three shares of stock and donated a sum of money to the publishing company. The Finnish Socialists know that the publishing of a daily edition placed us financially in the clear and they are doing everything in their power to place the paper upon a sound basis. We hope other Branches and Socialists will do likewise and we will soon have an eight page Buffalo Socialist.

BRANCH ONE. All party members are requested to attend the meeting next Sunday afternoon, delegates to the annual city convention will be elected. It’s your duty to attend this meeting. The branch will take up a course of the Rand School and all comrades who wish to take part in this course should attend next Sunday at 2:30 P.M., at Ferry and Kilhoffer streets. Don’t forget the card party and dance Saturday night at Columbia Turn Hall.

BRANCH THREE. Branch Three completed the organization of a class which will take up the study of social science by correspondence from the Rand School of Social Science, New York. Stephen J. Mahoney was elected class leader and ably handled the class, which was a preliminary to the first lesson. More interest was shown in this first lesson, which was only barely touched on than anything which has  ever been undertaken by the Branch since its organization. Twenty-five members have already enrolled, a few extra lessons have been ordered for the benefit of some who may wish to join, but were unable to be at the Branch meeting. By the intense interest shown in this course which will enable anyone with average intelligence to acquire an education superior to that which is obtained at many colleges. The price for the course of twenty-two lessons is $1.00, every lesson is worth $1.00, and you can get them for less than five cents a lesson. It is not compulsory to be a party member to join the class. If you are out of work and want. to take up this course and cannot at present afford the dollar, notify the secretary, Thomas H. Pohlman.

BRANCH 4 NOTES. The big surprise of the season’s work so far in Branch Four was the attendance, harmony and enthusiasm evinced at the Welfare meeting held last Sunday. Ways and means were discussed as to the furtherance of propaganda in the jurisdiction of the branch which were of such broadness of scope that it was found necessary to lay aside the meeting of next Sunday for the completion of the plans at hand. It was felt that the chief topic of moment at the next party convention which will be held on November 29th will be a consideration of the lessons drawn from the campaign just passed and the policies to be followed from those lessons. The slogan of the next year’s work will doubtless be “Intensive work instead of extensive work,” and by the results shown in the meeting of last Sunday it will be Branch Four’s policy. The “One-get-one plan” will doubtless) carry.

The One-take-care-of-ten” plan will surely take the same course. The Propaganda course on Economies which will embrace five weeks has been adopted. This is a course of five lecture-discussions on consecutive Sundays, covering the following subjects: Feudalism; Capitalism and Capitalistic Production; Wages; Surplus Value and Industrial Democracy. Branch members are preparing to give the lectures for which a strip of five tickets will be sold. Eighteen names have so far been taken towards adopting the Correspondence Course of the Rand School of Social Science for Speakers, and the Sunday School idea has met with hearty approval. Every member is expected to attend the meeting next Sunday as the most important business is still to be transacted.

ATTENTION! MEMBERS OF BRANCH FIVE. A very enthusiastic meeting of Branch Five was held Sunday, November 9th, at the Proletarian Club. In spite of the disagreeable weather the Branch made a fine showing. Considerable business of importance was transacted. It decided that hereafter the Branch meetings be held at Johnson Park Hall, corner of South Elmwood and Johnson Park. The first meeting to be held at the new meeting place will be on Sunday November 16th, when election of delegates to the city convention will be held. It is very important that every member of Branch Five be present at this meeting. A study class, which will take up the Rand School Study Course, has been organized and it is hoped that every member of the Branch will avail himself of the opportunity of studying during the coming winter. Those wishing to make application for membership in the study, class may do so at the next meeting.

JEWISH SOCIALISTS TO OPEN CLUB ROOMS. The Jewish Socialist Party Branch of the Workingmen’s Circle is making good progress. Sunday evening, November 16th, the branch opens its new club rooms and library at 228 William street, near Walnut. An elaborate program has been arranged for the occasion. At six o’clock the doings will commence. There will be vocal and instrumental music and Comrade Janesen of Rochester will be present to deliver an address. One of the enjoyments of the evening will be a package party. Comrade M. Brown will act as general chairman for the evening. Time was when the Jewish Branch was not very active, but during the past year the branch has taken on a new lease of life and with the opening of the fine new club rooms Sunday evening the branch will soon rank with the best in the city. Last Saturday evening the branch held a very successful dance at Star Hall. Comrades are invited to attend the opening of the new quarters Sunday and see for themselves the good progress the Jewish Socialists of this city are making.

BRANCH SIX. Branch 6 will hold a card party at Headquarters, 1179 Lovejoy Street, Thursday evening, November 13th. Second Grand Ball of Branch 6 at Orient Hall, Lovejoy and N. Ogden Street, Monday, November 17th. The Woman’s Club will have a grocery shower for the benefit of the Fair at headquarters, 1179 Lovejoy Street, Thursday evening, November 20th. Admission, groceries. Refreshments will be served. Regular meeting every Tuesday.
